What should I bring to class?

Please bring what you need to keep yourself and your dog comfortable during class.  For K9 Nose Work® classes we suggest you bring the following:

  • Water and a water bowl

  • Training rewards - please bring a plastic bag full of small, non-crumbly food rewards that your dog loves.  Please label the bag with your dog's name.  If your dog prefers a toy reward, please also bring your dog's favorite toy.

  • A mat/blanket to put down in crate if it will make your dog more comfortable

  • Something for your dog to chew/lick while waiting in crate (Kong, Toppl, chews, bone, interactive toy, etc.)

Why do I have to crate my dog in K9 Nose Work classes?

  • Crating is part of the K9 Nose Work® philosophy.

  • By crating our dogs between searches we are keeping all of the dogs safe as they enter/exit the search area

  • Having the dogs in crates creates a smoother transition between dogs, which equals more turns

  • Crating allows the dogs to rest between searches.

  • Crating allows for latent learning - this gives time for what the dog just learned to sink in

Does your dog have difficulty being crated?  Contact us at info@dooverdogtraining.com and we will work with you to find a solution so that your dog can still enjoy our K9 Nose Work® classes.

What vaccines are required?

Do Over Dog Training requires Rabies and Parvo/Distemper vaccines.  Titers are accepted.  The kennel cough/bordetella vaccine is recommended.
